Reminder: Earth Hour is Saturday at 8:30 PM

Earth Hour is tomorrow, Saturday, March 27th at 8:30 pm.  People around the world will be turning their lights off for one hour at that time (at their local time).

Last year I remember sitting in the dark, working on the computer, while husband was in the other dark room watching TV.  This year, perhaps we can find something to do that uses no electricity for that hour!  Or you could cut corners and just go out that night--the lights will be off at home, right?!  =)

Woman's Day: Month of Menus

Do you have problems coming up with a menu sometimes?  I really struggle with taking the time and preparing ahead.

The Woman's Day Month of Menus provides a new menu every month, including a shopping list.  Most of the food is simple, real foods, easy and quick.  I don't love everything on it all the time, but even if I can use 1/2 to 2/3 for a month, that puts me that much farther ahead.

What do you think of it?

Walgreens Clearance

I found the big bottles of the Lil Gummy Vites on clearance for $5.99 at my Walgreens.  If you have the Walgreens Coloring and Activity Book, it has a coupon for $2 off, making them only $3.99 each.  The full price is usually $9.99!

I am wiping a tear away as I write this.  I lost my WAGS coloring book coupons when I moved.  sniff.

Kmart Double Days AND $10 off $20 coupon!

Kmart will begin Super Double Days again, beginning April 4th!  Go HERE to see a list of all stores participating.

They will double coupons up to $2 in value, a total of 5 coupons per person, per day.  You will be required to sign-up for a store rewards card to participate in the doubles event.

A new Kmart coupon has been released for $10 off a purchase of $20 or more.  It will be interesting to see what happens with this coupon.  There is quite a buzz about it in the blogosphere already.  It could possibly be used along with Double Days, but YMMV.  I am for sure going to try!
BTW, the coupon is a pdf (Adobe file, saveable) and has no restriction on use, other than one per transaction!  So, you could print and use one every time you go to Kmart (or do multiple transactions) between now and expiration, which is not until 5/22/10!  I would definitely print/save this one ASAP!

Pampers Deal at ToysRUs March 20th

If you are in need of disposable diapers, here is a deal to get you thinking.

On March 20th, ToysRUs/BabiesRUs will be offering a promotion for $10 off with the purchase of 2 Pampers Value Boxes with Dry Max (92-252 ct.)  I am not sure of the price on these.  I have heard anywhere from $40-46.  Of course, buy the cheapest boxes you can find for maximum savings.

On top of that, there was a $2 off coupon in the paper previously.  AND if you were at ToysRUs last week, they were giving out Dry Max samples.  People have reported finding a $3 off TRU coupon in the sample.  It may be possible to stack the two coupons for another $5 off.

If you don't have a $3 off coupon, take note that on that day of March 20th, there will be demos and giveaways from 12-4pm promoting Dry Max (until supplies last).  So, maybe you will be able to pick one up then.  Here is a link to the ad and store locator to find participating stores.

Free Shipping for When Ordering In-Store

Thought I'd let you in on a bit of information I recently discovered.  I was shopping for a baby gate to put at the top of our stairs.  I found this one on, on sale for $39.99.

I searched everywhere for a free shipping code (I hate to pay shipping!).  Finally, I just called them and asked for a code.  Of course there wasn't one available, but the customer service person told me that I could go to a local store and order it through them.  It would then be shipped straight to me, but with free shipping!!   Well it was well worth it to just stop by and have them place the order for me.

Planters $1.50/1 Coupon for Fans

Become a Fan of Planters on Facebook HERE.  You'll then be able to print a coupon for $1.50 off any Planters product.  You can print it twice by hitting the back button.

Ideas to use it:
Planters Trail Mix is $1.99 this week at Walgreens.  Buy two and use two $1.50/1 q's plus the $1/2 Wags coupon in the March coupon book. Equals two for Free.
Next week the trail mix should be $1.50 each.  So repeat above scenario and it will be a $1 MONEYMAKER!  (give man. q first, then wags q).   If you want to save your $1.50 coupons--or want more trail mix, then use the $1/2 coupon from SS plus the wags q = $.50/bag.  My husband loves this stuff for a snack.

Personally, I love the Planters Natural Harvest nuts. I usually get them at Target for $4.99 per bag.   I will probably save my coupons for these.

Ways to Save on Movies

After moving, we had to opt to receive cable.  (Had to, as in we could only receive two network stations via antenna--none of which allowed us to watch Survivor!)  Out of 14 years of marriage, I believe we have only had cable for 3 of those years.  But, now we are back on the wagon.

So, to help me come to terms with ourgreatly inflated tv/internet bill, I decided to address what we spend on renting movies.  First off, I canceled Netflix.  Could never get a new release.  Just not worth it for us anymore.

So, my two big strategies (and I will warn you--neither of these are secrets) are to use Redbox for the new releases we want to see ASAP, and to record as many movies off Starz and Encore as we care to see.

First, Did you know you can reserve movies at Redbox?  Not only can you reserve a movie before it is released, but you can also search to find the closest Redbox with the movie you want to see, and then reserve it to pick up within the next couple days.  (You can't use promo codes when you reserve a movie)

When you sign up for an account at, you will receive an email with a code for a free rental.  The code is BREAKROOM.  It can be used once per credit card.

Now, when we just feel like watching a movie and don't have any particular title in mind--that is when I turn to Starz/Encore (which were free with our cable package).  I have been watching what newer releases are being shown and recording them with the DVR.  Now we have a list of titles we can choose from whenever we feel like watching a movie.

A couple ways to search for newer movie titles is to go to the Starz page.  (You can also search Encore, which is Starz' little sister that shows older hit movies).  There are a couple of boxes on the right hand side of the page.

Coming Soon  --  Shows new releases that will be shown in the next few weeks.  (For example, "The Proposal" and "Julie and Julia" are both coming up in April)

Starz on Demand --  Shows top movies available on Demand.  IMPORTANT to note is that all (that I am aware of) on Demand movies (you pay to see them immediately)  are also scheduled to play on the Starz network on certain dates.   You can also see the full list of On Demand movies-then, just click the title you like and view the schedule for when it comes on next.  Set the DVR and voila!

For me, I think the secret to making this work is to record any movie we might want to watch.  Then it is ready to go in our "library".  If we were to just wait until we wanted to watch a movie, then the pickings would be slim to none.

Free EVOL Burrito!

Last year, EVOL Burritos offered up 50,000 free burritos.  They are just now sending out the coupons.

These look very yummy!  Unfortunately, I don't have any retailers within 50 miles who carry these burritos.

So, if you would like my coupon (I'll send you the link, email and password), just post a comment!  If I get several entries, I will randomly select one.

BTW, these are available in Springfield, MO at Akins and Mama Jeans.

Coupon expires March 31, 2010.  I'll close comments on Sunday.

Settling In--Looking Forward to April!

So, we are moved.  And fairly unpacked.  Now to find our way around and meet people.

I am really looking forward to April!  Not only does it mean blessed Spring!  But, it is also Earth Month.  I anticipate Greed Deals galore!  I'll do my best to share what I find.

For those of you who enjoyed the Go Organic! coupon books last year, sadly, the program is on hiatus for this year.

The first Earth Month deal I have found so far is from Earthbound Farms.  They will be giving away reuseable bags again this year--beginning on April 1st.  I'll do an official post as we get closer.

Which design is your favorite?
